Steal His Clothes, Like You Stole His Heart

Steal His Clothes, Like You Stole His Heart

Being on trend and constantly updating your wardrobe can get expensive. Somehow, even with my weekly splurges, I still find myself lost in a pile of clothes with nothing to wear. When my boyfriend Alex and I first started dating, my wardrobe was even more limited to the few articles of clothing I had already brought to his house. Starting a brand new job in fashion, where everyone in the office is always up to par, I felt pressure to make sure I always looked put together and never wore the same outfit twice. With my options decreasing, and my emotions in a panic, a light bulb suddenly turned on…inside my boyfriend’s closet.

My college days living in a sorority house were very beneficial because my closet quickly multiplied by the number of housemates I had. Why should that change now just because my roommate is a guy? Here are some of my tips and tricks to wearing your heart on his sleeve.

    1. Button up his button-down- Button downs are great because they can be worn multiple ways. Whether he’s 5’5″ or 6’2″, you can rock it! Wear his button down loose and long, putting it together with leggings and ankle boots for an easy, chic look. You can also tuck it into a pair of jeans, to hide some of the lengths. My go-to is tying the bottom together and pairing it with jeans or a long skirt. His button-down is classy during the day, and sassy at night!
    2. Nothing but his t-shirt on- Layering is so in right now, and can make an over-worn outfit look brand new! I have put Alex’s Hanes under my shirts and dresses, to transition my summer pieces into a fall look. A simple t-shirt will also always be a classic with a pair of jeans. You can dress it down with sneakers, or add a lot of jewelry and hit the town!
    3. Bigger is better- In jackets that is! This season’s trend is all about the boyfriend look with oversized jackets, coats, and blazers. Putting a blazer on anything will make the entire outfit look elevated.
      4. Access His Accessories- Finally, guys usually have the best accessories. Beanies, sunglasses, and a briefcase are some of my favorites of his. Accessories are best for sharing because there are no awkward size constraints.

Babes- remember the saying, “What’s mine is yours!”

Boys- remember, “Sharing is caring! Happy wife, happy life!”

These few tips and tricks helped add a little spice to my wardrobe and calmed me through those desperate times. It’s always important to use all of your outlets and get creative, especially when you’re a blonde on a budget who always wants to look great, like myself.
