Have you ever found yourself drowning in a pile of clothes with nothing to wear? This happens to a fashion girl like me constantly. Yet, somehow, I am also regularly stuffing my clothes into drawers– confessions of a shopaholic! With every new season, new trends emerge, and being a lover of fashion, I need to get my hands on all of the latest and the greatest. Being a “Blonde on a Budget”, it could be hard keeping up with all of the latest trends, without breaking the bank. Here are some of my tips and tricks:
First things first, go through your current wardrobe! Every 6 months, I like to do my very own “Closet Cleanout”. During this process, I sometimes find pieces that I forgot even existed. With all of the new and upcoming crazes, you might find a different way to style a piece, which could make it look totally new!
On the other hand, I also come across items that are so outdated, I would never be caught wearing them again. My advice, if you haven’t worn it in 5 months, it’s time to say “averior!” In this case, I collect them in a big laundry bag and take them over to thrift shops. You know what they say, “One man’s trash, is another man’s treasure!” Instead of letting old clothes clutter your room, trade them in for cash! I like to call this method- a fashionista’s way to recycle. By making some extra dough, you now have the funds to stock up your closet with this season’s best!
Depending on your wardrobe, I suggest looking up different thrift stores, websites or apps. Some places focus on low-end goodies, while others focus on more upscale designers. Also, make sure to be persistent and have patience! Some places might hate a lot of your stuff, while others adore it! I usually make this a weekend event and go store to store until I feel accomplished enough. If you put up your stuff on a website or an app, don’t be discouraged if it doesn’t sell right away. Good things take time, and all it takes is that one person to go for it! Who knows? Maybe someone fell in love with it right away and is just saving up the funds!
