Everyday Skincare Routine

Everyday Skincare Routine

The most important thing to take care of is yourself, both internally and externally. There is nothing more reflective of that, than the way your skin looks. You can tell exactly how I feel based off the way my skin looks. If it’s dull, it’s because i’m tired, if it’s pale, it’s because i’m sick and if there are a lot of red spots, it’s usually because i’m stressed. These things are inevitable at times, which is why your skincare routine is so important.

Here are my recommendations of all my favorite skincare products. My routine consists of different price points, for both that “Blonde on a Budget”, as well as the “Platinum Blonde”. When I first started dating Alex, I lived out of three different houses, (mine, his mom’s and his dad’s), when I was away for college, or just traveling, I got the chance to try a bunch of different types of skin products since I had something different for each place. After years of experimenting, I finally found all of the products that work best for me.

Makeup Remover Wipes:

Purity Made Simple One-Step Facial Cleansing Cloths – $15.00

Not going to lie, I normally hate makeup wipes. Even though they’re suppose to remove all of the dirt from my face, I feel even grosser after using them. They usually leave me feeling super sticky and oily. I love the brand Philosophy, so I decided to give their wipes a chance and I highly recommend them. They get the job done, and leave my skin feeling fresh afterwards.

Face Wash:

I wash my face at least twice a day. You don’t want to overwash your face, because than it will get dry very easily, especially in the winter.

Purity Made Simple Cleanser -$24.00

This face wash is perfect for all skin types! It’s light and gentle, so it’s great for sensitive skin and you can use it around the eye area to ensure you’re getting all of your makeup off. This face wash deeply cleans your pores while also having natural oils to condition your skin, which makes it great for my combination skin.

Chanel Gel Purete – $45.00

First of all, let me start by saying that Chanel skincare smells AMAZING! This face wash is catered more for people who have combination-oily skin. It helps remove all the excess oil and controls it throughout the day so you’re left with a more mattifying look.

La Mer The Cleansing Foam – $85.00

Also suitable for all skin types, this wash is a bit on the pricier side, but a little goes a long way. Put a pea-size amount on your finger and massage it into your already-damped face until the wash begins to foam. The energizing formula contains nutrients that hydrates my skin all day long, so that I don’t get dry patches when applying my makeup.

Makeup Remover:

Neutrogena Oil-Free Eye Makeup Remover – $4.00

After a crazy night out, when I wash my makeup off I usually have “raccoon” eyes. To ensure there’s no excess eye makeup under my eyes that make my natural rings look ten times worse, I take a Q-Tip or cotton swab and remove it with this.

As thoroughly as one may wash their skin, you hardly ever end up getting everything off. Toner is great, because it ensures to get rid of all that extra dirt you left on your skin after washing. I use this in the morning and the evening, with a cotton pad.

Clean & Clear Essentials Deep Cleansing Toner – $4.29

Clean & Clear definitely does what it needs to do to get the job done. My skin feels fresh and clean afterwards, plus it smells pretty good too!

Lush Tea Tree Water – $10.95

I love this toner! I use it everyday, in addition to my other toner. It is for oily skin, and during the day when I feel i’m looking a wee bit damp, I give myself a spritz to keep me going throughout the day. Also, Lush’s products are all animal cruelty free, which I love and fully support! One of my favorite beauty brands.

Chanel Lotion Purete – $45.00

This amazing smelling toner is for combination to oily skin. This leaves my skin feeling pure and refreshed with a matte finish.

La Mer The Tonic – $90.00

Not only is this toner meant to clean the skin, but it calms and tones the skin as well. La Mer makes a toner meant for oily skin, but this one that is for all skin types does the trick for me. My skin feels clean and bright after using this.

Sunday Riley C.E.O Rapid Flash Brightening Serum – $85.00

I first tried this when it came in my Sephora play box, and I have been obsessed ever since. My best friend told me amazing things about this brand, so I was excited to finally be able to try. This serum for all skin types, brightens the appearance of the skin with immediate radiance, while fighting the look of dark spots and discolorations at the source. It firms and plumps your skin. The serum is oil-soluble and long lasting, helping it quickly absorb into the skin for visible brightening. Not only does it help eliminate redness and sensitivity, but it protects the skin from any future “bumps in the road”.

Innisfree Intensive Hydrating Serum – $25.00

I first tried this when I was invited to the Innisfree store opening during fashion week, one of the most stressful times of year, so naturally my skin was going crazy. One of innisfree’s best sellers, this lightweight serum gives my skin the nourishment it needs without leaving me feeling wet.

Face Cream:

La Mer The Moisturizing Soft Lotion – $260.00

This lightweight lotion thoroughly moisturizes my skin throughout the day, without being too heavy. It is my holy grail! My skin looked a lot firmer after using for only a week.

La Mer Creme De La Mer – $170.00

I spoil myself by using this cream as well. This one is a bit more moisturizing, but also gives me an even skin tone and closes my huge pores, so my foundation doesn’t look cakey and my pores do not get clogged.

Chanel Hydra Beauty Creme – $87.00

Obviously, this smells amazing, but it also leaves my skin feeling super moisturized without that yucky damp feeling. It is made for dry to normal skin, but the ingredients contains nutrients that induces your skin’s natural ability to retain moisture, so that you do not need to use so many products.

Innisfree moisture-volumizing cream with lava seawater – $33.00

I love lightweight gel creams because they don’t leave me feeling like I have a layer of clumpy lotion on my skin. Since this has lava seawater in it, the lotion feels like there’s hardly anything on. Immediately after using it, my skin feels moisturized but after a few minutes, it feels matte and ready for my makeup application which is important, because otherwise your makeup will melt right off.

FARMACY Honey Drop Lightweight Moisturizer with Echinacea GreenEnvy – $45.00

This lightweight moisturizer is great for all skin types! This lotion keeps my skin feeling soft and moisturized all day. I feel like my skin just drinks this up immediately after I apply it. It feels super moisturizing, but my skin looked and felt like there was nothing on it, which is so nice. Even after a whole day, my skin felt very neutral- not too oily and not too dry, which is amazing for my skin!

Eye Cream:

I never thought eye cream was necessary or important until I started using it and saw such a difference. Your eyes are the key to your soul, and mine always read “I’m sick and tired”. I have always been insecure about the dark circles under my eyes, and during the winter when I get super dry patches there, concealer just isn’t enough.

La Mer Illuminating Eye Gel – $155.00

I originally got this as a gift with purchase and it has forever changed my life! This eye cream helps protect your eyes from the environment, stress, aging, etc. Not only does this one help reduce those dark circles, but if you’ve been eating badly, crying or not getting enough sleep (which i’m guilty of), it brings down the puffiness in your eyes. When I run out of my moisturizer, I also dupe this as a face cream.

Face Masks:

This is not something that you should do everyday, but I definitely recommend doing it at least once a week. I admit, I get super busy and don’t prioritize my skin, especially with a face mask. In reality, doing a face mask doesn’t take up that much of your time, because your skin can “bake” while you’re getting your work done, watching a movie, or writing a blog post ;P

Tweezerman Skin Care Tool – $12.99

First, I take a hot shower and wash my face to get rid of any excess dirt and open up my pores. While in the shower, I take an extraction tool and try to clean out my pores. I have a sick obsession with removing blackheads.

La Mer The Intensive Revitalizing Mask – $170.00

This has been my favorite mask for at least a year now. Though I have tried many, I think this one is really worth the splurge. I see instant, noticeable results when using. This re-plumps and energizes your skin making it look firmer, while protecting and fighting against that stubborn acne.

Treating your skin is definitely an investment. I love wearing makeup, and I run around all day in it, so making sure my skin stays clean is very important. Being a full-time blogger, as well as having a full-time job in the fashion industry, I always have to look my best. I would never want to be in the position where I’m having a conversation with Anna Wintour, and have a huge zit on my chin.

Taking care of yourself is what is most necessary if you want to feel confident in your own skin. Make sure you are eating the right foods, drinking a lot of water, getting a good amount of sleep, and keeping your anxiety level down as much as possible. Everybody has different skin types and different makeup routines, this is just what works best for my skin. I recommend trying skincare products out before making the commitment and buying. Some brands sell “travel sizes”, which are obviously cheaper, but not worth the buy for long-term use since you’re getting less for your buck. However, they’re good if you’re just sampling a brand or item. Another fun fact is some stores, like Sephora, let you buy, use and then return the item if you’re not satisfied. Lastly, go to a skincare counter with interest and ask for a sample.

Please let me know if you have any other favorites that I didn’t mention! I am more than open to suggestions.
